Great Pumpkin Family Fun Run

My family ran the Great Pumpkin Family One Mile Fun Run at Summer's Farm. It was a ton of fun! The kids had a great time running with Mommy and Daddy, and they got cute t-shirts. Bonus: the pumpkin donuts and apple cider plus spending the rest of the day playing at the farm and gathering pumpkins.

And we are off!

So, we didn't quite run the whole mile...
But, we ran most of it!!

Hugs all around for a job well done!
Enjoying the refreshments...

It was a fun little race which we followed up with a fun day exploring their farm. It was a pretty hot day for late September.

Base Football Fan Fare 5k

The base Football Fan Fare 5k was on September 21st on post. I love races that only require a 5 minute drive!! I ran this one with my good friends Michele and Holly. My biggest problem with this race was my shirt decision. Since it was a football race I HAD to support my Broncos, but the only shirt I had was long sleeve (and it was Chris's not mine). I have not worn a t-shirt for an actual run in ages and I suffered for it - I was so hot!!
Michele, Holly, and I ran the entire race together and crossed at the same time. We finished in 31:07. I believe this was Holly's fastest 5k!! I'm so proud of her and all she has accomplished over this past year with her running. My friends inspire me and motivate me to keep on going!!
I was so thankful that Michele's husband came out to cheer us on!! I'm very grateful that he was able to get some pictures of us together. I personally love the kid lying past out on the side of the road in our finish photo!

When I got home Chris made breakfast!! Pumpkin waffles and pumpkin smoothies. They were delicious!!

DIVA Half Marathon

My third half marathon this year was at the DIVAS half marathon series in wine country, VA. I ran it with my good friend Holly. Tabitha and Patti were there too, but because of injuries they had to walk it.

Holly's friend Kari was also there. She wanted to run it on her own so she didn't stay with us at the beginning, but in the end we caught her and she finished with us.
This race was literally one big mess. We left super early to get there and I'm glad we did. We sat in some traffic trying to get parked, but from what I heard it was nothing compared to those arriving later. The race was delayed over an hour because of all the traffic problems they were having; by the time we started my stomach was rumbling. It made for a long race. They didn't give an accurate portrayal of the course either because it was not flat, but extremely hilly. I believe they said an elevation gain of around 200, but from everything I read it was closer to 700. The majority of the course was on gravel and we really just weren't prepared for the hills and gravel. Holly's goal was to finish in under 3 hours and we did amazingly well - even with all the roadblocks - we finished in 2:39!!
Here we are finishing! They gave us the feather boa's and tiara's about half a mile from the finish...

All done!!

Even with all the craziness it was so good to be able to run Holly's first half marathon with her! It was a great day with running friends.
