Day 18, CLX/Insanity

Tonight was Insanity Plyo cardio. We did it at the basketball court at one of the centers on base tonight - lots of space with plenty of room to do the workout yet we were all still clustered into a little group. LOL
Stretching...
Good grief - mountain climbers.
Ski jumps...
Did someone say water break?! Look at us running for our waters! LOL
Basketball drills - UGH!
My arms hurt so bad by this point even dropping to my knees for push-ups wasn't helping relieve the pressure.
Not sure if I'm doing a push-up here or if I just collapsed onto my knees - UGH! Tough workout tonight.
It really is a love-hate-love relationship for me (I probably say that every time too, sorry). I like the workouts - I feel them working, but I so hate doing them. There are points where you just feel like you're going to fall over and then it's over and I always think, "that's it, we're done?" I think there is something wrong with me!
We ran this morning. I love running on Tuesday's because it's been 4 days since I last ran so I look forward to it, but on Thursday's I'm usually ho-humming around the house. Stalling. Today was no exception. I got my butt out of the house and actually enjoyed the run today...sort of. I think we had a pretty good pace. We had 2 crazy hills though - the first one someone cranked up the wind and it was actually faster to walk up most of it. The second hill wasn't too bad, but I did walk some of it because of the wind. It felt like I was running against a wall. Trying to push the jogging stroller (with both kids, so at least 60 lbs) up a hill with the wind was tough. I was really feeling it in my legs tonight during Insanity.
All I've got to say is that I BETTER look good in shorts this summer! ;)

Day 16 CLX/Insanity

Insanity was Pure Cardio tonight - go, go, go, no breaks for almost 18 minutes. It was good. I burned 400 cals tonight, so that must mean that I'm doing something right since the calorie count went up. Shaun T - I have a serious love, hate, love relationship with him. I hate the workouts but love how I feel afterwards...keeps me coming back for more.
Tabitha and I ran again today. We did almost 2 miles (around 1.9). I got a really bad side stitch towards the end, but I kept on going...straight up that big hill. My reward was feeling FANTASTIC for making it up the hill and doing the entire thing without stopping - YEAH ME!!!
I'm looking forward to Chalean tomorrow and lifting some weights!

Day 12 - CLX/Insanity Hybrid

We did Chalean's Burn 3 tonight along with Ab Burner. It was a good workout, seriously, you can't go wrong with 32 minutes followed by a 10 minute ab routine. The abs were nothing to laugh at either - by minute 8 mine were screaming. I always feel the burn with this one. Love it!
We've got Insanity tomorrow morning and then nothing until Monday night - Bring It!!

Week 2, Day 4

Insanity. I don't know why I blog on Insanity days and not Chalean. Hmmm...guess you know which one I want to complain about the most. Tonight it was Insanity - Cardio Power and Resistance. Good workout. I'm thinking I'm starting to like Insanity which must mean something is wrong with me. I try my best to take it easy on the jump squat moves by not jumping too high (I do want to walk in the morning).
My biggest problem tonight was my quads - they were on FIRE during the workout tonight. Every (yes EVERY) workout we do is lower body focused - Chalean does a lot of lunges with her upper arm work and Insanity is all lower body, but then you throw the running I did this week into the mix and my legs were mad at me. But, you know what, I'm totally going to rock those shorts this summer, and I can't wait!

Week 2, day 2

Tonight was the same Insanity workout we did on Sunday - Pure Cardio. My problem tonight was I wore my Nike's - OUCH! They are a size 8 and I really need an 8.5 when I'm working out since my feet swell. Half way into it my toes in my left foot started cramping really bad so I couldn't put as much into the workout, still managed to burn 420 calories though. It looks like I'll have to stick to my Saucony's for now.
Stephanie brought her camera tonight and snapped some sweaty photos afterwards. I'll share mine with you guys. It's a funny shot...it's me telling her I better wouldn't see this on facebook! He, he, he...
On a side note Tabitha and I went for a run today and it felt GREAT! I walked from my house to her's and then we ran around her neighborhood - 1.34 miles (I think it took us around 14 minutes). Bugg says I burned 290 calories.
Lots of calories burned today and now my tummy is grumbling. I think I'm going to chow down on some homemade salsa and natural blue chips - YUM! Then it's time for Sleepytime tea and bed. Tomorrow is Chalean - YEAH!

Week One Down!!

Day 7 today was Insanity day. The workout - Insanity Pure Cardio. When I looked this one up online it said it was the hardest one for month 1. Uh-oh...that can't possibly be good.
It was the standard Insanity warm-up - 15 minutes of crazy followed by stretches. I'm actually starting to like the warm-up and it's getting much easier. I think at first it was such a shock because it's so different from P90X. After stretching Shaun T was like, "I don't know about this one." Um, seriously, the guy running the video is worried. At one point he even laughs because he is so distracted and "hurting" that he forgets the name of his own moves. He's too funny.
Overall the workout wasn't that bad. It's the standard push, push, push that I've come to expect with the Insanity workouts, but this time the push was for the full 20 minutes, no break. Which was okay because I didn't need a break until we were almost at the end (I think it was the third from last exercise, I had to stop for some water). My favorite by far is the football drills - I love, love, love these. They always get my heart pumping and make me happy.
I'm going to look into new shoes. I heard that cross trainers provide you with more support for his workouts. I don't think running shoes are working out so well for me. It'll have to wait a pay day or two...good thing I have 2 pair of "new running" shoes. I might have to wear my Nike's on Insanity days and keep my Saucony's for running (yes, I need to start running again. I've got a 5K coming up in May and I'd like to actually run it).
Tomorrow starts week 2, and I weigh-in. Not expecting great results this week - my eating has been AWFUL! Too many sweets. Starting fresh tomorrow. Bring it!!

Day 6, Burn 3

Day 4, Thursday, was Insanity Cardio Power and Resistance. This one was definitely easier then the first Insanity workout we did. I was able to do every move tonight and only took the breaks he gave us. I also didn't sweat as much and according to my bugg burned 50 calories less then Insanity Plyo Cardio Circuit. Hmm. Not sure about all that.
My biggest concern with the Insanity workouts right now are the mountain climber (and other moves done while in the plank position...and there are a lot of them). My lower back sounds like rice krispies when I do them - snap, crackle, pop. I've started modifying them so I will either "walk" instead of run or I'll just hold the plank position. I'm modifying some of the jump moves as well to keep my lower back from hurting, so far so good!
Day 5 was Friday and we took a rest day. Today was day 6, Chalean's burn circuit 3. Wow! I'm really enjoying her workouts. They are a nice change of pace and I'm really feeling the burn!
My legs were really sore on Thursday from burn 2, so on Friday I was SUPER sore! Every time I stood up I felt it in my quads. I know this one is going to work!!! I can't wait to wear my first EVER pair of 10's!!!! And they are going to be shorts!! It's my goal for the end of the program. 2 more sizes (or is it 4?? I'm in a 14 now). YEAH!!!

Day 3, Burn Circuit 2

Tonight was day 3 of my CE/I hybrid fun-ness! I really enjoyed the workout again tonight - my arms were on fire by the time we were doing push-ups (the very last exercise of course!) and my legs were even feeling the burn during a crazy bowler type move. I really think we're going to see big results with this new workout...probably because we're shocking our bodies with new routines - either way, I'll take it! I'm also thinking that I'm going to need 12's and 15's before too much longer. I'm going to have a mini-gym if I keep this up.
I'm trying not to think about tomorrow - Insanity Cardio Power and Resistance. Should be interesting to say the least. Bring it!

Day 2, Insanity Plyo Cardio Circuit

Tonight was Day 2 of CE/I hybrid and it was crazy! The DVD said 42 minutes, and it was pretty much go, go, go from the start. The first 15 minutes were the "warm-up" um, okay, if that's what you wanted to call that! I was burning 11 cals/min!!! It was followed by some nice stretches and then it went all crazy again.
My favorite was by far the football type drills, I was bummed that we only did one set of those but 3 sets of basketball - ICK! I was doing push-ups on my knees by set 2 and those ski-jumps were just crazy. My arms were screaming at me, and I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be my core screaming instead. I burned around 8 cals/min (mostly because I was on my knees groaning WTH most of the time - LOL). And then, well, it was over. Really?! LOL It makes me feel like I didn't push hard enough, so next week I'll be pushing harder on those basketball drills because that's all there is to the DVD.
I was pouring with sweat during the video (guess I did get enough water today after all!). I'm not sure if I liked it though. It was definitely "insane" but overall I thought P90X plyo did a better job at working me out (my bodybugg said I burned the same amount of calories)...I think I feel this way because P90X plyo was at least doable. I'm not really a fan of workouts that are designed for failure, because really that's how this felt. The people in the video were falling out, we were falling out, I don't know. We'll see how my body feels in the morning. I can feel a dull ache in my lower back right now I know it has to do with those basketball drills...I need to find a way to modify but I'm not sure you can. You're pretty much in the plank position the whole time while running, jumping, in and out with the legs. I can't think of anything else that would cause the lower back pain.
Back to lifting weights tomorrow night - Burn workout with Chalean!

DAY 1, ChaLEAN Extreme/Insanity Hybrid

Tonight was Day 1 of ChaLEAN Extreme/Insanity hybrid (forever in my blog to be known as CE/I...too much to type otherwise - LOL), BURN cardio circuit 1 and ab burner. The workout was good. I was definitely feeling it, and the ab routine was just awesome! My abs were screaming and just when I thought I couldn't do anymore it was over. I think the change in routine is going to give us all BIG results!!
It was a short workout the burn 1 was only 35 minutes and then ab burner was only 10 minutes...which is great when you have kiddos. My bodybugg said 300 calories burned, not bad for just lifting.
This is me when I started doing P90X
 This is me now...

Here are my stats for Day 1 of P90X followed by Day 90 P90X and Day 1 CE/I
Weight: 183 / 176
Chest: 39" / 38"
Waist: 38.5" / 33"
Hips: 45" / 39"
Thighs: 29" / 27"
Arms: 14" / 13"

Not too bad! I think I'm going to see a lot better results with CE/I. I really like what I see from the ChaLean strength training so far, and I'm feeling it already. I'm hoping we can stick with Insanity and that we all come out of it looking more toned and leaner with no injuries!

P90X - 90 Days!!

WOO-HOO!!! I finished P90X!!! 90 days baby!!! YEAH!!! So proud of me!! AND to top it all off on Day 80 I did 2, yes TWO, unassisted pull-ups!!! I'm so proud of me!!
I'm sorry that I haven't blogged in awhile. I'm not sure what really happened, other then something kept coming up and I didn't get it done, now P90X is over and Monday I start ChaLEAN Extreme/Insanity hybrid mix! Wow - how did that happen?! We'll be taking photos and measurements so I'll update all those as my 90 day P90X results/day 1 ChaLEAN Extreme (I really need an abbreviation for that one)/Insanity hybrid.
