New Year is Upon Us!

The New Year is upon us! We were visiting family over the last week and it was so nice to unplug and recharge; however now we are back to Florida and it's time to get back into a routine. I'm not a big fan of making New Year Resolutions, but I do like setting goals.
My goals are normally centered around fitness and this year it's no different. For 2015 I'm going to focus on the following:
1) Become stronger and more lean
     - I signed up for a year of Fixed on Fitness's Outdoor Bootcamp classes. I enjoy them and I can feel myself getting stronger with them, so I bit the bullet and challenged myself to an entire year.
     - I'm going to start using heavier weights to challenge myself more. I would love to have more definition in my arms, especially my triceps, so heavier I go!
2) Eat healthier
     - I'm going to start logging my food again and if I miss a day I won't beat myself up and think I've failed, I will just start again tomorrow.
     - I have maintained my weight for quite some time. To me that means my body is happy at 159, or at least that's what I keep telling myself. I believe I can stand to lose 10 more pounds and in order to achieve this I'm going to clean up my eating. I'm not perfect with eating, and I probably never will be, but I feel better and my skin looks better when I'm eating well. I've had the most success with clean eating. I've been looking and reading through information on Paleo, but I think that I'll stick with clean eating.
3) Run more and enjoy it!
     - I ran my first marathon in 2014 and afterwards I was pretty burned out on running. I was told it's fairly common to experience depression after running a marathon and I believe it! I'd like to find the joy in running again and running in the sand is a good start. I am loving running in the sand. My Mom gave me a pair of neutral running shoes at Christmas and they are light weight and perfect for sand running (I tried them out this week).
     - I signed up to run 2,015 miles in 2015 with my two friends Patti and Rebecca. We each need to do around 640 miles. I'm doing a 100 day challenge to get in 30 minutes of activity every day; it included a shoe that you color a space in every day. I cut out one of the shoes and I'm going to color a spot for every mile I run this year. My plan is to have my bedroom wall covered in shoes - at least seven of them!!!
     - I used to love running on trails. It was one of the things Chris and I used to do together all the time before we had kids. I'm going to start running on trails again. The challenge with this is that there are not a lot of trails in my area. The ones close to me that are labeled "trail" are more of a sand path. It's a good 30+ minutes to the wooded trails so for now I will focus on sand runs (I do have two beach runs this year - one in February and one in March). In April I will see if one trail run a month is feasible and make it happen.
4) Blog more
     - I love blogging. The times I don't blog are usually when I'm not at my best. I hate to admit when I'm struggling. I challenged myself to blog at least once a week over the last two months or so and I've been doing really well with it. I want to keep challenging myself to blog at least once a week if not more.
     - Along the same lines of my blog is my workout group. It's an online group of my greatest friends. We've formed a bond over our common goal to improve ourselves. I want to work a little harder at keeping the group going and active. When we moved I strayed away from the page and my friends and it's when I needed them the most. It's been a constant in my life and I need to keep them there, so I'm going to focus on engaging with them more...what I wouldn't give to just call them up and go for a run again. Perhaps this year I can make a trip home for a run that we can all do together. A girls weekend run trip!
